Selection Procedure

1. Preliminary Examination (Screening Test)

  • The Preliminary Examination is an objective-type test conducted using OMR sheets.
  • It consists of two papers:
    • General Studies
    • General Aptitude
  • This stage is only qualifying in nature and is used to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination.
  • Negative marking is applicable for incorrect answers.
  • Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are not counted towards the final merit list.

2. Main Examination

  • Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination are eligible to appear in the Main Examination, which is a written descriptive test.
  • Qualifying the Preliminary Examination does not automatically register a candidate for the Main Examination; a separate application must be submitted within the prescribed timeline.
  • At this stage, candidates are required to submit supporting documents, including:
    • Educational qualification certificates
    • Caste certificate (if applicable)
    • Domicile certificate and other required documents

3. Interview and Personality Test

  • The Interview is the final stage of the selection process.
  • Only candidates who secure the qualifying marks in the Main Examination are called for the Interview.
  • The final merit list is prepared based on the combined marks of:
    • Written Main Examination
    • Interview / Personality Test

Tie-Breaking Rules

In case two or more candidates obtain the same aggregate marks, the following criteria are applied in order:

  1. Preference is given to the candidate with higher marks in the written Main Examination.
  2. If the tie still persists, the older candidate (as per date of birth) is ranked higher.

Provisional Result Arrangement

Due to ongoing legal proceedings, the commission follows a special result declaration system:

  • 87% of results are declared under the Main List.
  • 13% of results are kept under a Provisional List, applicable mainly to OBC and Unreserved categories.
