Eligibility Details

Educational Qualification

  • Must hold a graduate degree in any stream from a recognized Indian university (Central/State/Deemed/Established by Parliament).
  • Candidates appearing for the final year/semester of the degree are eligible for the Preliminary Exam, but must submit proof of passing before the last date of Main Exam application.

Provisional Eligibility

  • Candidates appearing for the qualifying degree can appear in the Preliminary Exam.
  • For the Main Exam, a valid degree certificate must be submitted before the last date of online application.

Selection Procedure

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (Screening Test)

  • Type: Objective (Multiple Choice Questions).
  • Purpose: Screening candidates for the Main Exam; marks not counted in final selection.
  • Papers:
    1. General Studies – 200 marks, 2 hours.
    2. Aptitude Test – 200 marks, 2 hours (qualifying only).
  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark deduction for each wrong answer.
  • Qualifying Marks:
    • UR: 33%
    • Reserved Categories: 23%
  • Shortlisting: Based on Paper 1 marks; about 15 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) are selected for Main Exam.

Stage 2: Main Examination + Interview

  • Main Exam: Conventional/subjective type, 7 papers totaling 1400 marks.
  • Interview/Personality Test: 100 marks.
  • Shortlisting for Interview: About 3 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) are selected based on Main Exam scores.
  • Final Merit: Total of 1500 marks (1400 Main Exam + 100 Interview).
  • Post Allocation: Based on merit and candidate’s preference form.
